Class Descriptions
All classes at Curated Pilates + Movement are taught by highly trained instructors with a strong foundation in anatomy, biomechanics, and modifying for the needs of the client they are teaching.
Intermediate Mat-Reformer Hybrid
This class moves between the mat and the Reformer allowing for an even greater number of exercises. The class is at an intermediate level and meant for those with previous Pilates experience. By incorporating exercises from both the Mat and Reformer we will be able to hone in on creating the stability needed to build towards some of the more advanced movements. The class will also work on spinal mobility and balancing strength and flexibility.
Pilates Fundamentals
This is the perfect class for beginners. In this class we will build on what you covered in your private sessions, continuing to learn the basics of the Reformer and Mat exercises as well as how to adjust the apparatus. By taking the time to learn about placement, engaging the core, and creating stability, you will create an excellent foundation to build upon. The class will move at a gentler pace and allow for questions as those new to Pilates learn all that this method has to offer.
Pilates Fundamentals would be a great choice after your initial privates if you are feeling comfortable learning new movement in a group setting and making modifications for any current injuries or chronic conditions. If you feel you need a more personalized touch our continuing with private sessions is an excellent way to gain additional knowledge and confidence before joining group classes.
Intermediate Reformer
This class expects that you are comfortable on the Reformer and know your way through the beginner exercises. The class will introduce more complex choreography and more challenging exercises. It is perfect for someone who has gone through our Reformer Fundamentals classes or has previous Reformer Pilates experience.
Advanced Reformer
Looking for more of a challenge in your Pilates routine? Advanced Reformer is a great choice for those with significant experience who are comfortable learning the more challenging Pilates repertoire, including inversions. This class expects that if you require modifications you are aware of how to make them within the flow of the class.
Intermediate Mat
This intermediate mat class incorporates both classical and contemporary mat exercises to create a full body workout. The class is best for those with previous Pilates mat experience as it will flow from exercise to exercise. Additional props may be used to assist in learning the exercises or to increase their challenge. The class balances core and periphery work while challenging both strength and mobility.
Pre/Postnatal Reformer
Pilates is an excellent form of exercise to use during an uncomplicated pregnancy and after pregnancy. Our classes are designed to give you a total body workout while working within the parameters of what is safe. There will be a focus on learning to engage and relax the pelvic floor, working in neutral to build strength in the transversus abdominis, and building strong postural muscles in the back. At the same time classes will include exercises to strengthen and tone the arms and legs, maintain flexibility and balance, and keep your body mobile as it changes. The classes are designed to keep you safe and comfortable, so consideration will be given to the amount of time spent lying on your back, limiting inversions, and avoiding positions that pose a fall risk. But pregnancy is not an illness, so we will still give you a good workout.
*If this class is not scheduled, please reach out. We are always happy to work with pregnant or postpartum clients. The class can be added when there is demand.
